Lever Pad

Cylinder locks are typically found on uPVC doors, but they can also be found on other types of doors. They operate with a key to unlock a cylinder that will reveal pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, allow them to rotate a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with both internal and external doors typically needing different levels of security.
Choosing the right cylinder is crucial; it is dependent on how your doors and handles are utilized. External doors, for instance should be equipped with higher security cylinders and doors inside can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features which can enhance security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.
To make sure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. It is crucial to not have a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon.
